Wow, I can’t believe we’re half-way through 2015! Time seems to be flying! The Shamouner’s have been really busy over the last few weeks.
Our new teak deck is taking shape really nicely and the contractors are doing all the fine tuning to make it look perfect. It’s taken heaps of hard work, for which we’re really thankful for and we’re very excited to see the finished product!
The Deck and Engineering teams have been hard at work painting the fore-peak and generator rooms. The new generator is soon to be installed, as is the new fridge and freezer!
Captain David has been pretty busy too, he whisked his girlfriend, our chef Megan, away to Queenstown for a weekend away and they came back engaged!
Congrats guys!
All our hard work for Junk-Free-June paid off and we managed to raise $625 Kiwi dollars! Our awesome management company has decided to match what we raised and we donated a total of $1250 Kiwi Dollars to the Auckland Cancer Society!

The 18th of July is a day very close to all South African hearts, and now our Shamoun family too. It’s the day we celebrate the life of Nelson Mandela. It is more than a celebration of Madiba’s life and legacy. It is a global movement to honour his life’s work and act to change the world for the better. It was inspired by a call Nelson Mandela made, for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices when he said that “it is in your hands now”.
The point of the day is to give back to those in need. Which our Shamouner’s proudly did! This year we decided to help the Auckland city mission which is a organisation that helps feed, clothe and look after those in need. We donated blankets and made sandwiches and took apples to feed over 100 people.
