THE SHAMOUN BLOG

August 18, 2014
Place: Langkawi

Shamoun finally arrived in Singapore, the land of “spick and span”, only to leave a week later and return to Langkawi.

The (normally uneventful) crossing from Langkawi to Singapore was made a bit more interesting due to our encounter with a telephone pole.

The Malacca Straits is known as the busiest shipping lane in Asia, quite often littered with debris. We’ve been very fortunate in the past to come away unscathed, but unfortunately lady luck was not on our side this time. We’re very fortunate that the damage was not more severe, but needless to say our yard period has been lengthened somewhat, due to a damaged port propeller.

The highlight in July was helping out the LASSie Foundation at Bon Ton Resort, as our Nelson Mandela Day effort. The Shamoun crew all had such a great time working with LASSie’s 100+ rescued dogs and cats. The LASSie team do such a great job and we were honored that they let us lend a hand.

The Shamoun crew and management also raised $1400 US for charity.

August brings about a bit of a change in structure for Shamoun as we say goodbye to Anna, our stewardess.
Anna has been on Shamoun for over a year now and has decided to set sail on her own adventures.
All of us would like to wish you well on your new endeavors, Anna! All the best for your future and know you always have friends on Sail Yacht Shamoun! Safe Sailing!

Regards,
The Shamoun Team
